Residence Inn by Marriott Chicago Lake Forest/Mettawa

Honestly exceeded my expectations in every way. Making the reservation concierge was super friendly and helpful. Since we were relocating to the area we had an extended stay. House keeping was amazing, the amenities were great but the best part was the breakfast. Miriam and Adele are so nice and the food was delicious. My Twins have a serious allergy to egg and strawberry. Miriam went out of her way to get yogurt without strawberries or have other options to accommodate the girls and set things aside for them. An extended stay with toddlers and a dog in a hotel was hard but the staff really helped and I think made it easier to manage. Super thankful.

Had a great stay over the past weekend. Staff and accommodations were great; as always. The location is excellent for us personally. It sits in the middle of 5 different relative's households that we visit in the Chicago area a few times a year. The location has easy access to I94, O'Hare, the suburbs to the northwest, and to the neighborhoods just North of Chicago.

The service at this hotel was unbelievable! Better than any 5-star hotel. They were attentive, accommodating and very friendly and outgoing. Ariel helped me with our reservation to set up the perfect situation for our families. Aaron was so accommodating and friendly, and Miriam put together an amazing breakfast! Just amazing, really! We will be back! When the front desk saw our littles getting restless after breakfast while the adults finished up, they brought crayons and coloring books out for the kids to play. We had a perfect stay! Thank you!

This place has the BEST customer service. All staff was amazing. One of the employees suggested an amazing place to eat. The manager Justin was exceptional. We were here for my son's NAVY graduation during a hectic Thanksgiving week and breakfast was great. Coffee was always available, which isn't the case at most Marriotts. Hands down one of the best experiences at a Marriott. I am a bon voy Marriott member and stay at a Marriott at least 20 times per year. I would recommend this place hands down. 100 out of 10.

Walking into the Marriott’s continental breakfast felt like trotting straight into the celestial stables of some breakfast-loving horse deity. The automatic doors parted like barn doors before a triumphant Clydesdale, and I swear I heard distant whinnies echoing as I approached the buffet. The aroma of toast and coffee swirled around me like enchanted hay, and I felt my inner stallion rear proudly. Every countertop gleamed like a well-polished horseshoe, and the atmosphere practically begged me to prance. The food selection was a full-blown pasture of abundance, a veritable smorgas-horse of morning delights. The muffins stood tall like miniature hay bales awaiting a noble graze. The bagels were round and glossy, reminiscent of perfect hoofprints in freshly turned dirt. Even the hard-boiled eggs looked like they’d been laid by mythical breakfast pegasi. I piled my plate with the unrestrained enthusiasm of a mustang discovering an untouched grain silo. The coffee? It had so much horsepower I could feel my metaphorical mane growing longer with each sip. But the staff—good heavens—the staff operated like a synchronized team of elite dressage champions. They refilled trays with hoofstep precision, moving as gracefully as Andalusians executing perfect half-passes. Their smiles shone with the warmth of a sunlit paddock, and their attentiveness rivaled that of a loyal stable pony watching its favorite human. By the time I finished eating, I was neighing with satisfaction, flicking an imaginary tail, and resisting the urge to canter out of the dining room. This Marriott’s continental breakfast doesn’t just serve food—it delivers a full gallop straight into the heart of horsedom.

We cannot say enough wonderful things about our stay at the Residence Inn Mettawa/Lake Forest! From the moment we arrived (family of six and two small fur babies), the level of professionalism, attentiveness, and genuine care from the staff truly went above and beyond expectations. Moving to the area and waiting 6 weeks to close on our new home, we anticipated a rough six weeks. But the staff and amenities truly provided us a comfortable and safe place to hang our hats for those 6 weeks. Justin deserves special recognition—his professionalism and kindness set the tone for the entire experience. He took the time to make sure every detail of my stay was perfect, always checking in with a warm smile and going the extra mile to ensure comfort and satisfaction. His exceptional customer service made us feel valued as more than just a guest—it felt like he was personally invested in making our stay outstanding. Equally remarkable was Miriam, who greeted every early morning with a smile as she prepared and delivered breakfast. She remembered guests by name, offered kind words, and created a welcoming atmosphere that made starting each day such a pleasure. Her warmth and personal touch made breakfast feel like home. It’s rare to find a hotel where staff make such a lasting impression, but Justin and Miriam truly elevate this Residence Inn to a new level. Their dedication, kindness, and genuine care reflect the very best of hospitality. I will absolutely return and highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for not just a place to stay, but a place where people truly make the difference.

I have not booked a hotel in a long time because I had been using Air BnB - this hotel has made me want to not book homes/apartments anymore! The customer service was excellent! As soon as I walked into the lobby I was greeted by Allison and Jason, with huge smiles on their face and eager to help me get checked in. The room was clean, smelled great and had more than everything I needed for my weekend stay.
